Dr. León-Alvarado holds numerous academic accolades and honorable distinctions, along with a wealth of expertise in clinical research pertaining to ophthalmology conditions and ocular immunology. His research experience spans from ARVO poster presentations, attending and presenting at the Foster Ocular Immunology Society Meeting, the Rutgers Resident Research Day, to the Pediatric Residency Program at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Doctor León-Alvarado holds a Bachelors of Science and Magna Cum Laude from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, and earned his medical degree with Academic Honor from the Ponce School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the St. Lukes Memorial Hospital Ponce, Puerto Rico. Following residency training, Dr. León-Alvarado completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, formerly UMDNJ, in Rochester, New York.
Doctor León-Alvarado joined Florida Retina Institute in December, 2023.
Dr. León-Alvarado enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, mountain biking, photography, and wildlife observations. Dr. León-Alvarado is fluent in English and Spanish.
